Benign prostatic hyperplasia – Men’s sensitive disease.

08/15/2011

Fatigue, loss of appetite, insomnia, and stress are the common manifestations of men with BPH. Although the disease is quite popular in men over middle age but due to shyness, they just go for treatment if the disease has severe manifestations. According to experts, the majority of cases with late treatment must undergo surgery. Therefore, the prevention, early detection to be treated with medical measure are the keys to help men avoid fear of operation.

Simple disease turns into severe one
The initial symptoms manifestations such as difficult urination more and more serious and urinary stream wasn’t as strong as before. Supposing the reason was the constipation, they took oriental remedy for a short time but their manifestations were more and more severe, then they went to hospital. If detected early, patients only need to take medication, not surgery.

According to the latest research, in Vietnam, the incidence of prostatic tumors at the age of 60, 70 and over 80 accounts for 59%, 76.9% and 90%, respectively. Many patients do not realize their diseases but their manifestations of physiological disorders and urinary disorders.
It is not hard to recognize the initial manifestations of the disease including bladder tense, filled urine, and urinary incontinence. More severe manifestation is difficult urination, requiring to strain to urinate, but it is still difficult. If urine can be released, urine stream is still weak and interrupted because the duct is too narrow. Urine remaining in bladder causes patient to urinate repeatedly, especially at night. More severe manifestation is urinating in pain and urinating with blood because blood vessel is slackened and broken or urine stuck causes us to want to urinate as soon as we had done and it takes long to urinate, more severe one is retention of urine, or even urinary obstruction. At these cases, the surgery is inevitable. Therefore, men at their middle age should pay close attention to the signs of this disease.

How to avoid operation

Early detection of these manifestations helps the treatment more effective. When noticing these manifestations, patients should have an ultrasound scan for accurate results. Except for cases of force majeure such as severe level, majority of today's physician in urology approves internal methods (using medicine) instead of surgery. In  previous years, due to the lack of specific medicines, doctors usually indicated foreign medicines such as Tadenan, Permixon, Prostamol, Katan, and Tadimax to reduce manifestations. Despite quick effect, these medicines are often accompanied by some side effects such as reducing peripheral resistance that causes low pressure and undesirable effects relating to priapism and abnormal ejaculation. Moreover, the cost of this drug is too high for many patients to afford.

Nowadays, there is an increasing tendency to trust and develop natural medicines due to their low price and treatment cost, especially remarkably successful treatment efficacy, high safety without complication. One of the successful works in Vietnamese medicine is Crila capsule formulated from Crinum latifolium L. This is the first Vietnamese specific herbal medicine for tumors such as BPH and uterine fibroids. This product was allowed by the Drug Administration - the Ministry of Health for nationwide circulation with registration number V1167-H12-10 and was suggested to be included in the list of national medicinal products by the Ministry of Health.

Proud of Vietnamese remedy

Crila from alkaloids extracted from Crinum latifolium L. is the specific medicine for BPH and uterine fibroids. Its inventor is Pharmacist - Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram, who was honored Kovalevskaya award (which honors teams and individuals having many contributions to scientific research and natural medicine). Crila from Vietnamese herb - Crinum latifolium L. is the first capsule in the world to treat uterine fibroids from Vietnamese herb, and is one of three botanical capsules for treating with highly effective treatment, and being trusted by patients.

According to the evaluation of the Council of Science and Technology - the Ministry of Health, the treatment efficacy of Crila for prostatic fibroids and uterine fibroids is at 89.18 % and 79.5 %, respectively. While Crila helps many patients reduce their prostatic volume, improve their urination and standard of living, it doesn’t affect sexual activity. The reason is that substances having undesirable effects affecting sexual activity have been removed in the process of extracting bioactive alkaloids.

Overcoming initial skepticism about the treatment efficacy in comparison with foreign drugs, many patients using Crila get very positive results. For example, Mr. Doan Tran Van (Hanoi), after taking Crila for 2 months, had his prostatic tumor reduced to 40% or Mr. Vu Xuan Co (Song Cong, Thai Nguyen) after using Crila,  painful and irritating urination and repeated urination (8-9 times per night) was reduced. To evaluate Crila’s efficacy, Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Tho from Central Institute of Gerontology, Chairman of the ministry-level subject “Evaluation of treatment effect of Crila medicine from Crinum latifolium L. on treating BPH” said that if BPH was detected early, it can totally be treated by Crila formulated from Crinum latifolium L. Depending on disease level, patients can be indicated to use Crinum latifolium L. tea, Crilin supplement to prevent and support treatment or Crila (specific medicine).

Due to high treatment efficacy and reasonable price for the income of poor patients, products from Crinum latifolium L. studied by Pharmacist - Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram was licensed for circulation by the Ministry of Health. Currently, the overall results of Dr. Tram’s study were applied and transferred technology to Thien Duoc Co., Ltd for large-scale production to serve patients. This is one of the first oriental medicine enterprises which have been certified GMP, GSP, and GLP criteria by the Ministry of Health. Furthermore, its Crinum latifolium L. plantation is a clean medicinal material plantation. Crila capsule is the result of Dr. Tram’s study process from 1990 until now which was comprehensively researched in terms of botany, cultivation, care, and harvest under GACP-WHO criteria, distinct genetic characteristics of Crinum latifolium L. from other Crinum plants based on genetic studies (DNA), chemical compositions, biological effects, toxicity, pharmacology, extraction and formulation. After evaluated its treatment efficacy and safety through clinical studies under Regulation 371 of the Health Ministry, Crila has been circulated nationwide from 2005 up to now, achieving the trust from patients due to its high quality, safety and reasonable price. Therefore, Crila is safe with high quality, efficacy, without undesirable effects to patients.
