I am suffering from uterine fibroids. I have heard that Crila® is created from the scientific research result of the research work group on Crinum latifolium L. which was honorably presented with the state science and technology award. So, I found this product at the pharmacies to treat my disease, but the sales staff advised me “to use other products which have higher content of Crinum latifolium than Crila® and their formula with 1600mg Crinum latifolium”. So, is this consultation correct? Could you please let me know?

Currently, on the market, the products produced from Crinum latifolium are supplements. The companies manufacturing these products self-announce the quality and standards although they do not have any research work on Crinum latifolium. These products are not medicines and not intended to replace therapeutic drugs. You are suffering from disease, so you should use medicines to treat. Crila® is the first Vietnamese herbal medicine to treat uterine fibroids with high efficacy. The sales staff at the pharmacies did not understand clearly that the content of bioactive substances in the medicine is completely different from the volume of the extract. The volume of the extract may be higher but the content of bioactive substances can be very low. So, the sales staff gave you false instructions. You should choose the products which are medicines, not supplements, to have treatment efficacy. And the most important thing is that herbal materials for the production of medicines from Crinum latifolium by other companies are not the medicinal herb which has been studied by Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram as a novel cultivar with the scientific name Crinum latifolium L. var. crilae Tram & Khanh.

I want to use the medicinal product whose formula is the combination of Crinum latifolium L. and other herbs such as false ginseng, Scutellaria barbata D.Don, Celastrus hindsu Benth and Gynostemma Pentaphyllum to treat uterine fibroids because I think that this product will be better due to its combination of Crinum latifolium L. and other medicinal herbs. Because I am not a pharmaceutical industry insider, so what I am thinking may be inexact. So, could you please let me know so that I can choose the right product to treat my uterine fibroids effectively?

Crinum latifolium L. is a novel medicinal herb which has been studied since 1990. So far, there have been no studies on the combination of Crinum latifolium L. with other herbs such as false ginseng, Scutellaria barbata D.Don, Celastrus hindsu Benth, Gynostemma Pentaphyllum, etc. So, in order to help patients understand whether such combination is good for health or not. In the article “Using products from Crinum latifolium L.: be careful!” dated 21 May 2013 in the Capital Security Magazine, People’s Teacher - Prof. Dr. Pham Thanh Ky confirmed that “the combination of different medicinal herbs may be good, but can also reduce the effects, even toxic to the body. The most important thing is that the combination needs studying and demonstrating through its result tests. Not all combination can create good products”. So, you should not use the combined products of Crinum latifolium L. with other herbs when they have not been studied yet to ensure safety for your health.

As I know from the website of Thien Duoc Co., Ltd. www.thienduoc.com, Crinum latifolium L. is a novel medicinal herb, but some products which I bought on the market are announced to be produced as traditional remedies. So, what is true and what is false?

In Vietnamese traditional medicine, there has not been any traditional remedies which contain the composition of Crinum latifolium combined with other medicinal plants. Crinum latifolium is a novel medicinal herb which has been discovered and studied since 1990. If any producers announced that their products are produced from traditional remedies, the producers themselves did not understand what the traditional remedies are and therefore gave false information to the public.

The U.S. market is very demanding and especially the pharmaceutical products and supplements are under strict management by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (U.S. FDA) for human health, but Crila® has been allowed for circulation in the U.S. market. Can you let consumers know why Crila® has been accepted by FDA?

Crila® was created from the research work group on Crinum latifolium L. by Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram. Crila® is formulated from bioactive alkaloids extracted from the leaves of Crinum latifolium L. var. crilae Tram & Khanh which is a novel variety of Crinum latifolium L. species in Vietnam with modern process and cultivation, collection and processing under the guidance of the World Health Organization. Herbal materials cultivated in a 20-ha plantation in Long Thanh - Dong Nai province are clean and stable in bioactivity. Since its birth, Crila® has been used by many patients for its high treatment efficacy and safety for patients. This was proven by the test results in Eurofins laboratory (the U.S.A.) which met the following criteria: residues of pesticides, genetically modified organisms, the level of heavy metal contamination and the allergens. The results showed that Crila® meets the criteria prescribed by the U.S. This proved that Crila® is a safe and high quality medicinal herbal product. Sue McKinney, Director of Crinum Health said: “Mr. Ralph Neate Ralp is 60 years old and is living in California. He has prostate problems. He has used many kinds of new medicines and tried many different kinds of herbal products but none really work for him. Soon after using Crila®, he felt it effective in the first month and after 3 months he had a better sleep through the night without getting up to urinate as before. Besides, his physician informed that his PSA decreased. In the U.S., about 50% of men at the age of 50 begins to have the symptoms of prostatic enlargement. The clinical trials demonstrated that Crila® is effective for most men. 89.18% of men participating in the clinical trials had good results and without side effects. Colleen Dee, from Canada, began to use Crila® when she was living and working with her husband in Vietnam. Colleen had multiple uterine fibroids. When she was in Vietnam, she used Crila® and the number of fibroids began to decrease. After returning to Canada, she continued to follow and told me that her uterine fibroids disappeared after undergoing some ultrasound examinations in Canada. 25% of Western women and about 35% of Asian women have uterine fibroids at the age of delivery - currently there are not any new medicines which can reduce these fibroid tumors - but Crila® did. The clinical trials demonstrated that 79.5% of tumors stopped developing or began shrinking after 90 days. Through Sue McKinney’s opinion, this is the reason for Crila® which is safe and highly effective for patients to be accepted by American people although the U.S. market is very demanding.

I am suffering from breast cancer and uterine fibroids. I am advised by my doctor not to use estrogen-rich foods. So, I want to use Crila® to treat uterine fibroids. I have received some information that Crila® is estrogen-free. Is that true? Could you please let me know?

For patients with breast cancer, it is completely accurate when they are advised not to use foods that contain estrogen by their doctor. But for Crila®, patients who have both breast cancer and uterine fibroids can still use Crila® to treat uterine fibroids. Crila® and its ingredients were analyzed by the University of Illinois (U.S.A.). The samples were supplied by Crila Health - a distributor of Crila® in the American market. According to the research and analysis results, the experts came to the conclusion “Crila® is estrogen-free and safe for patients”. This demonstrates that patients with breast cancer and uterine fibroids can use Crila® for the treatment of their disease, so you can feel safe to use Crila®.

Currently, I am suffering from uterine fibroids and ovarian cysts and my acquaintance has fibroadenomas of the breast. We want to use Crila® but as we know Crila® is a medicine for the treatment of uterine fibroids. In case of suffering other diseases such as breast fibroadenoma and ovarian cysts, what other products should we take to treat both diseases at the same time?

For patients suffering from uterine fibroids and also having ovarian cysts or breast fibroadenoma, they should use Crila® which treats uterine fibroids in combination with Crilin® supplement which supports the treatment of ovarian cysts and breast fibroadenoma in order to treat uterine fibroids and ovarian cysts or uterine firboids and breast fibroadenoma at the same time. The composition of Crilin® has flavonoids extracted from the flowers and alkaloids from the leaves of Crinum latifolium L. var. crilae Tram & Khanh. In addition, the composition of Crilin® also has Semen Nelumbinis and Pueraria thomsoni Benth which are two tonic drugs helping patients eat and sleep well.
