What are the differences between the medicinal plant with the scientific name Crinum latifolium L. var. crilae Tram & Khanh used as herbal materials to produce Crila® and other crinum plants in Vietnam which are usually mistaken as Crinum latifolium L.

The studies by Doctor - Pharmacist. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram on Crinum latifolium L. var. crilae Tram & Khanh demonstrated the differences in gene (DNA) and chemical composition, leading to the differences in biological effects as well as the treatment efficacy. So, if you use the wrong medicinal plants or other crinum plants which have no bioactive substances inhibiting the growth of tumor cells and stimulating the immune system, they will not be effective to the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and uterine fibroids. Moreover, some crinum plants have toxicity affecting liver and kidney. There are also differences in morphological characteristics between Crinum latifolium L. var. crilae Tram & Khanh and other crinum plants, but the differences are often difficult to be recognized, but only when flowering. Crinum latifolium L. var. crilae Tram & Khanh only has flowers when it has been grown from 3 - 6 years. So, apart from experienced botanists, patients can not recognize the differences. To ensure their health, patients should choose the products from the manufacturer who has the scientific research work to provide safety and high treatment efficacy for patients.

  • .
For patients having already undergone tumor dissection, how do they prevent their disease from relapsing?

It’s necessary to prevent uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, breast tumor, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and other tumors from relapse because the tumor can recur after surgery. Therefore, after recovery, patients should use supplement - Crilin capsule with the dosage of 4 capsules/day, 2 times daily for prevention of disease.

  • .
    10. I have relatives with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and uterine fibroids who used Crila® to treat their disease and got good results. Do they need to continue taking Crila®? If yes, how long will it take?

If BPH and uterine fibroids are treated successfully with Crila®, patients need to continue taking Crilin® supplement with the dosage of 4 capsules, 2 times daily for 60 consecutive days to prevent tumor recurrence. After one year, repeat taking Crila® for two consecutive months.

  • .
I am suffering from uterine fibroids.but the sales staff advised me “to use other products which have higher content of Crinum latifolium than Crila® and their formula with 1600mg Crinum latifolium”. So, is this consultation correct?

Currently, on the market, the products produced from Crinum latifolium are supplements. The companies manufacturing these products self-announce the quality and standards although they do not have any research work on Crinum latifolium. These products are not medicines and not intended to replace therapeutic drugs. You are suffering from disease, so you should use medicines to treat. Crila® is the first Vietnamese herbal medicine to treat uterine fibroids with high efficacy. The sales staff at the pharmacies did not understand clearly that the content of bioactive substances in the medicine is completely different from the volume of the extract. The volume of the extract may be higher but the content of bioactive substances can be very low. So, the sales staff gave you false instructions. You should choose the products which are medicines, not supplements, to have treatment efficacy. And the most important thing is that herbal materials for the production of medicines from Crinum latifolium by other companies are not the medicinal herb which has been studied by Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram as a novel cultivar with the scientific name Crinum latifolium L. var. crilae Tram & Khanh.

  • .
As I know from the website of Thien Duoc Co., Ltd. www.thienduoc.com, Crinum latifolium L. is a novel medicinal herb, but some products which I bought on the market are announced to be produced as traditional remedies. So, what is true and what is false?

In Vietnamese traditional medicine, there has not been any traditional remedies which contain the composition of Crinum latifolium combined with other medicinal plants. Crinum latifolium is a novel medicinal herb which has been discovered and studied since 1990. If any producers announced that their products are produced from traditional remedies, the producers themselves did not understand what the traditional remedies are and therefore gave false information to the public.

  • .
I think of buying Crila® to treat uterine fibroids. So what do I need to be aware of when I use it?

For uterine fibroid, the dose is 10 capsules/day, twice a day.
You need to avoid alcohol while taking Crila®. If taking medicines for other diseases, the interval between them and Crila® is at least 3 hours. You should drink smoothies or natural fruit juices like avocado, watermelon, papaya smoothies, orange juice, kudzu, pennywort juice for better digestion when using Crila®.
Be cautious that pregnant women and children can’t use Crinum latifolium L. and Crila® because this product has not been studied on these subjects.

  • .
I have used Crila® for 8 weeks according to the prescription, my prostate volume reduced to 1/3, how long do I continue taking Crila®?

In my opinion, you should continue using Crila® for more 8 weeks, then go to hospital to check the results and let me know through the phone number 04.6296.3787 (in the North) or 08.6264.7552 (in the South) for more consultation. You can also continue taking Crila® capsule for 6 months or longer because it does not affect patients’ health.
